From navionics.com: go to the Subscriptions section of your account and click on Renew. Within the app: Open the app menu, enter your profile, and tap on Subscriptions. If you don’t, you can still use your chart layers and download the rest of your coverage area. For Navionics+ products, either download chart coverage or update preloaded charts: Creating Coverage with Navionics+ or Navionics Updates. Updating charts on your Navionics+ or Navionics Updates card. Click 'START' and allow the charts to download. Estimation of download time will vary based on internet connection & speed, as well as. How to download Chart Layers with the Chart Installer The Chart Installer is a free computer application that lets you interact with the content on your Navionics GPS Plotter card any time you need.

Bought the iPhone app a year ago for something like fifteen bucks, and was pleased to find that it works great on my newly-purchased iPad as well (just tap the 2x doubler button on the bottom right of the screen), even though Navionics sells another more expensive one especially for tablets. Very nice application, and in fact I find myself using it as a back-up more frequently than my Garmin handheld. Nice to have a back-up in the thick summer fog out here, that's for damn sure! Tony P.S. Make sure your device has true GPS capability or the app won't work offshore. For example, the iPads with WiFi only don't have an adequate GPS for this app. |
| K Albus | posted 05-24-2012 01:47 PM ET (US) I believe the free app that is being offered is only for PCs and Macs, not for smartphones and tablets. I purchased the PC app for my home desktop and was allowed to install it on up to five computers. I have installed it on one additional laptop PC. I do not have a GPS antenna attached to either computer, and such an antenna is not necessary for use of the app. Without GPS the app can be used for trip planning including the viewing of chart data in an area you plan to travel to, as well as plotting routes and creating waypoints. After creating routes and waypoints in the app, you can transfer them to the chartplotter on your boat. If you really want to use your desktop or laptop PC as a backup chartplotter on your boat, you will have to purchase a GPS antenna/receiver. I also have the Navionics app on my iPad. This is a separate app from the PC/Mac app. My iPad has GPS capability, and I can use it as a backup chartplotter. The iPad app can also be used to create routes and waypoints. |

I never actually used the code since I had already purchased the app before I received the email. Hopefully, they'll this straightened out. |

Go ahead and buy the thing by putting in your credit card info and the unique voucher number you received in your e-mail. Confirm purchase and you will receive an e-mail invoice for $49.99 with a $49.99 discount. Total is ZERO!!! When I saw that the order form asked for a special voucher number I figured out what was going on. |
